Muc-Off Bike Cleaner
With a name like Muc-Off you might suspect that this product isn't from a U.S. marketer, and you'd be right. Muc-Off began in Great Britain in 1994 when the founders feared that bike cleaning products were too corrosive. The company became successful in Europe and is now pushing into North America. A one-liter bottle of the pink biodegradable cleaner comes with a trigger spray and costs $12. It's enough for at least 15 road bike washes, according to the company. Muc-Off isn't just a detergent, though. According to the company, the product's "nano scale materials allow the formula to penetrate far deeper into dirt, oil and grime to gently break it down on an atomic and molecular level. The dirt is then rinsed away easily and safely with water, leaving behind corrosion inhibitors for future protection." The stuff is said to be safe on every kind of material and finish found on a bike. The company also makes other bike care products such as brushes, lubes and polish.
