ProLink Chain Gauge
ProGold makes RBR's all-time favorite chain lube, ProLink, and has had a nice chain gauge on the market for several years. It's a simple way to tell when a chain has worn enough to need replacement. One end goes against a roller and the other drops into a link. How far it drops determines how worn the chain is. It's a tool I rely on regularly. But ProGold wasn't totally happy with how it worked and the fact that even on some brand-new chains the gauge would indicate wear. So this stainless steel tool has been accurately resized and 7 more gradations have been added to the wear scale (now 1-10). This makes it easy to get a baseline reading on a new chain, then precisely monitor wear and decide at which higher number to make the replacement. The gauge costs $15, far less than replacing a cassette or chainrings ruined by an excessively worn chain. http://www.progoldmfr.com
