Time iClic Pedal

The iClic looks set to give Time a boost in the pedal market if leaf spring technology is as functional as it promises. Time's version puts the leaf in the pedal body's center where it seems more protected than in Look's design, which puts the leaf near the outside edge. And unlike Look, Time hasn't aimed only at the top end. It offers 4 iClic models that range in price from $140 (260 grams) to $450 (175 grams), thus offering the technology to a wide range of roadies. (The budget version uses a Plexiglas leaf instead of carbon.) Besides eliminating the cleat retention spring, iClic pedals feature an innovative trigger mechanism that holds the rear latch open after a rider unclips. This makes clipping back in almost resistance free — the lowest force required by any pedal system, Time claims. Also very cool is Time's iClic tripod cleat, designed for walkability with no cleat covers needed. The iClic system has 2.5 mm of lateral float and +/-5 degrees of angular float. http://www.timesport.fr
